SUPRISE

I threw Husband a SURPRISE party yesterday as this upcoming Thursday my husband will turn 30.
I wanted to celebrate this in a huge way. It did not turn out huge or that glamorous as I hoped but it was intimate and with the people we both love. That in the end is the most important thing.

My husband never had a real birthday party and can really tell a sad tale whenever we talk about birthdays. It’s no one’s fault. He couldn’t handle the stress when he was younger and because his birthday was smack in the summer Holiday most people were ON holiday so most people did not come. So they celebrated Husbands birthday on the same day as his younger brother eleven days earlier. This resulted in a tiny trauma because people brought a present for his brother but forgot about him….Poor husband.

With that in mind I organized a Children’s Party. Apart from the colder weather in comparison with the previous days and the party crashers aka wasps….the party was a blast. And Husband never saw it coming…..we all lie so well.

2 years anniversary

It has been two years ago but it feels like more. I don’t mean that in a negative way…what I mean is that the moment we met it felt like we already knew each other. It was wonderfully familiar from the start. In the two years we’ve been together we have shared a lot too. After three months we were engaged, after 1 year and 3 months married and today we are celebrating our two year anniversary in our newly bought house. And to celebrate this we went out for dinner. In the same restaurant we had dinner last year celebrating we had the banns published and the restaurant is in the same town we got married in. It’s a lovely town, beautifully located at the beach. Today we had a lovely start of SUMMER with warm temperatures so we had a nice stroll along the beach after dinner.

In honor of it being Cooking Things Tuesday a picture of our appetizers made with husband’s phone.

Prawn piri piri husband enjoyed and melon with Serrano ham I loved.

As main course husband had a tuna steak and I had a Rib Eye steak and afterwards we were planning to eat a chocolate desert but we both had round, full and satisfied tummies. Yummy!!! It was a very delightful evening with the man I love! Thank you munchkin!

Driving

My husband and father in law were working hard today on the homemade hallway closet.

They were sweating, tired and hungry so as a good wife and daughter in law I said I would take care of dinner. (The shops are closed because of Ascension Day (yeah! another day off!) so it would be chips from the local ¨snackbar¨ easy peasy and only a 5 minute drive.

I got in the car and started driving. Suddenly a police car with his flashing lights sped behind me wanting to pass to get to the emergency it needed to get to.

As you all know from a previous post, I consider myself a good driver. But it is weird that I lose that confident feeling as soon as a police car drives behind me as I forget how to drive.

I think too fast or maybe to slow, anyway not clear and focused. I start sweating and my heart starts racing. I first started to drive slow, maybe he could pass. Realizing that would be impossible because I could not go anywhere I started driving faster. A car in front of me realizes the police car behind me looking nervously in the back mirror. Finally a roundabout; I jerked at the steering wheel and turned right. (And no, I did not have to go right) I sighed a little but then I realized the police car also wanted to go right! Crap. Was he after me?? But then it swirled passed me with great speed and I ended up standing in the middle of the road taking a second until I felt totally normal again. I turned the car eventually and headed to where I was going. I had to drive around the car that drove in front of me. Apparently the person in the other car needed a breather too while awkwardly parked in the middle of the roundabout.

Finally the hard working men got there food and they did not even realize it took a little longer than normal.

Thank you, husband and father in law for the hard work today!

Hoorn??

I wanted to show you my birth town Hoorn....

Ok. So we arrived in Hoorn and I forgot to take pictures. So we ended up shooting pictures (while sitting in the car and drving. That is reason they are so bad) from fields, sheep, cows, a mill, random views, us in the car, on the Dijk where; if you squint your eyes, you can see Hoorn and de Ijselmeer (the water), pictures of me blown away by the wind and my Husband who doesn't seem to smile....

Flying Bug

So today we are off to Turkey! That means that I will be missed by my millions of readers (and 2 followers…who happen to be the same person!) and have to disappoint them with this lousy post that will have to satisfy you until next Tuesday!

But wait! I will promise you that I will keep a notebook with all my ¨fantastic fairytales from Turkey¨ posting them all at once when I come back!

Until next week, we are leaving now….me and my husband with his airplane earplugs…that make him look like a bug.

Hungry

We don’t do hungry, very well. One of us always explodes under the pressure of wanting food. We both are fiery tempered people. We can argue about the teeniest things on earth.

Even on our Honeymoon we had a sprout argue…..(don’t get me started on this one.)

And today while getting ready, working hard and HUNGRY (we don’t have anything in the house, but we are planning to eat in town) we seem to not be able to do it without a scream. This time it’s was me that lost my temper. It even included a slamming door; a falling mattress and a scared cat…..(don’t get me started on this one either.)

Then we laugh because someone says something stupid. The we remember we were angry so we go back at being angry…me typing rigorously on my laptop and my husband folding the washing while slamming each clothing folded on the bed. (He is so sweet….ow, no I forgot, I am angry!)

When it’s time we sit silently in the car…we need to go in to town to buy stuff for our holiday (and to eat). Not an awkward silent per se just a ….precaution silence.

Finally we decide with a few words we will first eat something.

After a few bites we are laughing and talking totally forgetting we were mad and back to being the best of friends…..
Conclusion:

Food makes you forgetful....

Note:
(And do food - shopping always!)

Vampire

So don't be alarmed but I am kind off a vampire. I inherited this from my father. Pointing my finger at my father ended with my finger caught between his teeth far to often for me to forget. It was a game, exciting and fun. Would he catch my finger...? Surely I did awful things to get back at my father. Like making pony tails in his hair, or playing ¨shop¨ over and over again.

I feel horrible. My nose is runny and my throat burns every time I reenact a seal. But after two hours lying on the couch I felt liking doing something. So I decided to make our own bookshelf - tower. Off course with help from my loving husband who actually will end up doing it by himself. Being that, in the end, it still will be my idea when people ask about the creation. Anyway back to the whole vampire thing. I bit my husband. Yes. Apparently a little to hard. Now this wasn't the first time. And apparently he still doesn't enjoy it.

I sunk my teeth in his finger. The bite marks sadly proof it. The poor man had to work on our lovely bookshelf with a sore finger. The whole exciting vampire part would be the bite marks because sucking blood is something I haven't tried. Hmm. I kinda suck at being a vampire.

P.S Don't you love the bookshelf tower?
